Mechanisation

Ceyenne WMS by Diract directly controls warehouse mechanisation: AutoStore, Ferretto, vertical lifts from Kardex and Modula, conveyors, sorting systems, packing machines and autonomous vehicles. Start manually and mechanise later, without changing WMS. Robots are sexy, but also complex and expensive. That is why we first analyse your order data and advise which mechanisation pays off for you.

Where humans and machines grow stronger together

With the growing staff shortage and the increasing pressure on efficiency, mechanisation is becoming ever more important in warehouses. It offers two major advantages. On the one hand it helps to optimise processes, such as more efficient picking and packing. On the other hand it automates tasks that add no direct value, such as moving goods, sorting, packing and measuring. This allows employees to focus on work that does make an impact.

We are happy to think along about which form of mechanisation fits your operation best. By first understanding your processes and order flows, together we find the solution that truly adds value.

Mechanisation that Ceyenne WMS controls

Once we understand your specific processes and challenges, we can determine which forms of mechanisation add the most value for your operation. From vertical lift systems to autonomous robots - Ceyenne WMS integrates seamlessly with various mechanical systems to take your warehouse to a higher level.

    Vertical lift systems (Kardex, Modula)

Bring products automatically to your employees instead of the other way round (goods-to-man). The lift brings the right tray to the operator at exactly the right moment, who can pick the item. Ceyenne WMS controls this process and ensures optimal order processing. When the operator has finished with the tray, it is sent away again and the next tray arrives. For even higher efficiency a dual tray system can be used, in which the next tray is already prepared. The result? Less walking, more efficient and error-free picks and optimal use of your vertical space.

    Packing machines

Automate the packing process with modern packing machines. Ceyenne WMS selects the optimal packing method and materials based on the order contents. A big advantage: you ship less air. The packing machine makes the process more efficient. It works with a base box with a certain floor size, which is measured after the items have been placed in it. The machine determines how high the box needs to be, cuts it and folds it to the exact height of the items. This not only means less filling material, but also more efficiently filled transport bags.

    Sorting systems

Collect goods for a large group of orders in the most efficient way. The sorting system works with a large conveyor belt with drops, where goods are automatically pushed off at the right collection point. This way you can pick for up to 120 stores at once, where one item is picked in high quantities and automatically sorted across different store points. Ideal for high-volume operations where speed and accuracy make the difference.

    Automated storage (ASRS)

Let robots collect orders 24/7 in AutoStore or Ferrettosystems as they 'crawl' over your stock or along the racks. Crates or pallets are stored and delivered automatically. Ceyenne WMS controls the system and ensures the right supply and removal of items. Perfect for compact storage and fast order processing.

    Autonomous vehicles (AGV/AMR)

Let autonomous vehicles take over the horizontal transport of boxes, crates and pallets. Thanks to our integrations with Primevision and Jungheinrich the robots navigate flawlessly to the right locations. This eliminates unnecessary walking distances and allows your team to focus on tasks that truly add value.

    Conveyors & conveyor belts

Automate the flow of goods between different zones with conveyors. From inbound to storage, from pick station to packing zone: Ceyenne WMS makes sure everything arrives at the right place at the right time. We work together with various partners, including Maas and FS Solutions.

  • Put-to-light

    Put-to-light systems

Visual support with lights helps employees recognise the right target location. When an order comes from different parts of the warehouse and has to be stored temporarily, a light goes on in the right consolidation compartment. With different colours different commands can be communicated, which increases efficiency and accuracy.
  • Goods-to-man

    Goods-to-man

With Mushiny Intelligent Sorting Solution racks are brought to the employee automatically instead of the employee having to walk to the racks, which significantly increases efficiency and reduces the load on staff.
  • Cubi-scan

    Measuring equipment

Connect weighing and measuring systems, such as CubiScan and other variants, to Ceyenne WMS for automatic dimension registration and weight control. This ensures accurate parcel information and optimal use of packaging material.

Growth path: from manual warehouse to AutoStore

Many customers start with Ceyenne WMS in a manual warehouse, with scanners. If order volume grows or staff becomes scarce, you add mechanisation. Because Ceyenne controls the mechanisation itself, your processes, integrations and data stay the same. You build up step by step, without a second system change.

1. Manual with scanners. Ceyenne WMS controls picking, packing and shipping via handheld scanners or wearables. Stock and locations are correct in real time.

2. Smarter picking. Batch picking, zone picking and put-to-light. More orders per hour with the same team.

3. First mechanisation. A vertical lift from Kardex or Modula, a packing machine or a conveyor between the pick and packing zone.

4. Automated storage. AutoStore or Ferretto for compact storage and goods-to-person picking. Ceyenne controls supply and removal.

5. Fully connected. Sorting systems, AGVs and measuring equipment work together under one WMS.

Baby-Dump and Babypark (FTH Groep) are automating step by step with AutoStore and Ceyenne WMS. Read the case. Molco Car Parts handles 40 to 50% more with the same people using a conveyor and Ceyenne WMS. Work out your gain. Read the case.

AutoStore robot on the storage grid

What does it deliver?

By connecting all systems smartly, you create:

  • 24/7 operational without extra shifts

  • Higher total output through longer operating periods

  • Optimal use of available space

  • Less dependent on scarce staff

  • Significantly fewer errors in orders (depending on your starting position)

Frequently asked questions about mechanisation and WMS

Can Ceyenne WMS control AutoStore?

Yes. Ceyenne WMS controls AutoStore directly. The WMS determines which items are stored in the grid, which bins come to the port and which orders are picked there. Baby-Dump and Babypark of FTH Groep work this way with AutoStore and Ceyenne WMS.

Do I have to change WMS if I want to mechanise later?

No, and that is exactly the beauty of it. Ceyenne WMS controls both manual processes and mechanisation. Start with scanners and add AutoStore, a vertical lift or conveyors later. Your processes, integrations and data simply stay the same.

Which mechanisation works with Ceyenne WMS?

Among others AutoStore and Ferretto (automated storage), Kardex and Modula (vertical lifts), conveyors from Maas and FS Solutions, sorting systems, packing machines, AGVs from Primevision and Jungheinrich, Mushiny goods-to-man and measuring equipment such as CubiScan. Is your system not on the list? Ask us and we will check.

When does mechanisation pay off for your warehouse?

That depends on your order volume, your assortment and the availability of staff. We first analyse your order data and processes. Only when we have seen the figures do we advise which form of mechanisation adds value. Also read when a conveyor belt pays off and when a packing machine pays off.

Does Diract also supply the machines?

No. We supply and implement the WMS. For the hardware we work with specialised partners, such as Maas, FS Solutions, Kardex and AutoStore integrators. Ceyenne WMS makes sure everything works together as one system.
