Background

This growth was also the reason why the company started looking for a supplier of a new WMS system. With the old system, only one order could be run at a time and the location determination was not optimal. Also, the reliability of the stock was low and there was little to no insight into the operational status and performance in the warehouse. In short: the quality of the internal and pick processes had to be improved in order to be able to continue to guarantee the promising growth in the coming years without compromising on the level of performance.

Ambition

Our ambition for the future is to be able to serve the business market even better. A completely new e-commerce environment is being created for this purpose. The WMS should support us better in this as the orders will become larger and therefore a different picking strategy will have to be used for this type of orders. The order numbers will also only increase, which will necessitate further process optimizations. The WMS will also have to support us in this.

Solution

Because of the Pick to box strategy, we have gone from a maximum of 1 order at a time to a maximum of 24 orders at a time. And because the orders are already collected in the shipping box, we were able to process the same amount of orders with 50% fewer packers.

In addition, our inbound process has also improved drastically. Incoming goods are now booked by an employee and put on a put-away cart, so that another employee can then process this put-away cart. In the old situation, everything was done by the same employee, which meant that it was not efficient and more mistakes were made.

Why Ceyenne WMS

After a few workshops and a deeper analysis of each individual process, we came up with a blueprint. The challenge was mainly there on the intended date of going live, which had to be realized within 4 months. Through a joint pragmatic approach and focus on the essentials, it has been a successful go-live. Within 3 months we carried out the Warehouse management implementation. From day 1, the performance of the warehouse went up and after 2 weeks they are already above the intended result. The Android scanners work clearly and efficiently guide employees through the warehouse.
